Male driver, 44, fatally collides with tree in Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, FL – A 44-year-old man from Jacksonville lost control of his vehicle, which caused him to drift off the I-295 on-ramp and hit a tree, claiming his life Thursday night.
This solo collision happened after 7 p.m. north of Merrill Road, FirstCoast News reported. Florida Highway Patrol said the man did not wear a seatbelt and had also overcorrected, which also caused the car to drift across several lanes.
Troopers also said the conditions of Hurricane Helene did not play a role in this wreck.
