Male motorcyclist, 42, loses life in left-turn crash in Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, FL – A 61-year-old man driving a sedan tried to turn left on I-295 collided with a motorcycle, claiming the life of the motorcyclist, a 42-year-old man, Tuesday.
This deadly crash took place after 5:30 a.m. on the I-295 South ramp, FirstCoastNews reports. After the vehicles collided, the sedan eventually came to rest on a shoulder against a pedestrian crossing signal while the motorcycle stopped in the northbound lanes of St. Johns Bluff Road South.
The Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Department declared the motorcyclist, a Jacksonville local, dead at the scene, while the Winter Park man sustained minor wounds.
Florida Highway Patrol and crews closed the lanes for several hours to accommodate the scene clearance and investigation process.
