Male teen, 16, passes away after multi-auto wreck in Lakeland
LAKELAND, FL – A 16-year-old teenager was transported to Tampa General Hospital, where he died after a multi-vehicle crash Friday.
This collision happened around 6:15 a.m. at the junction of County Line Road and Ewell Road, WTSP reveals. Preliminary details show that the driver of a blue 2008 Toyota Corolla, which the 16-year-old teenager was in, was turning left on Ewell Road on a green light (but not arrow) and was struck by a burgundy 2018 Ford F150 pickup truck (who did have a green light) going north on County Line Road.
Deputies say that after the truck and car collided, the impact caused the Corolla to spin out of control and hit a black Kia before coming to rest in the middle of Ewell Road. The Ford truck also struck a Dodge Journey, which came to rest in the right-turn lane of Ewell Road.
Foggy and hazy road conditions, in addition to it being dark at the time of the wreck played a role in this deadly collision.
The Corolla driver, the 16-year-old’s father, and the teenager’s brother, a 14-year-old also inside the car, were both unharmed.
