Man, 56, dead after crash with big rig in Davenport
DAVENPORT, FL – A crash between a car and a semi-truck on U.S. 17-92 North left one person dead Thursday, Click Orlando reported.
The collision occurred around 2:30 p.m. along Ernie Caldwell Boulevard. Officials said the driver, who was later identified as 56-year-old Leonardo Pereira, did not stop at the intersection and entered the path of the semi-truck as he made a left turn. As a result, the front of the truck collided with Pereira’s vehicle.
The semi-truck driver and passenger were unharmed, while Pereira succumbed to fatal injuries.
U.S. 17-92 closed and reopened four hours later.
