Man arrested following SW Miami-Dade crash that killed teen pedestrian
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – Authorities have arrested a 33-year-old man in connection to a fatal pedestrian crash this past November that claimed the life of a 14-year-old boy, reports Local 10.
The fatal incident unfolded near Southwest 112th Avenue, north of 232nd Street, near Homestead, on the evening of November 26.
The Florida Highway Patrol said the victim and another child, 10, were walking home in a residential neighborhood when the victim was struck by a speeding Audi driven by the suspect.
Preliminary details indicate a traumatic event in which the impact of the crash sent the victim more than 100 feet away from the site.
Officials said the suspect was driving at 81 mph and at “100% acceleration” in a 40 mph zone at the time.
The suspect, who was charged with vehicular homicide, was taken into custody on Monday, at the FHP headquarters located in Doral.
