Man dead, 2 others left hurt after car crashes off Florida’s Turnpike near Miramar
BROWARD COUNTY, FL – A single-vehicle wreck early last Saturday, July 20, near Miramar claimed the life of a 25-year-old driver from Hallandale Beach and left his two passengers injured, reports CBS News Miami.
The fatal accident occurred on the southbound inside lanes of Florida’s Turnpike at the Exit 47 ramp toward University Drive. First responders were dispatched to the area shortly after 2:22 a.m.
According to officials, the victim was driving a Honda Civic southbound when, for reasons still unclear, he lost control of the car as it failed to negotiate a curve. Moments later, the vehicle ran off the roadway, hit the inside guardrail, proceeded onto the grassy embankment and then came to rest partially in a waterway.
All three occupants were rushed to Memorial Hospital in Hollywood, but the driver was pronounced nearly 40 minutes later, confirmed officials. The two surviving passengers, a 35-year-old man and a 26-year-old woman, both received treatment for non-incapacitating injuries.
An investigation into the crash remains ongoing.
