Man dies after being found at scene of crash, gunfire near James P. Small Park
JACKSONVILLE, FL – A man who sustained a gunshot wound and who appeared to have been involved in a crash Monday morning in Jacksonville has died, according to WOKV.
Officers with the Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene in the 1000 block of West 8th Street, near James P. Small Park, at about 9:35 a.m., after being alerted to a fight and gunfire in the area.
While an investigation remains in progress, officials say the man was found with at least one gunshot wound behind the wheel of a vehicle that was involved in a crash in a Durkeeville front yard.
As of this writing, two people believed to be connected to the incident have been detained.
It remains unclear at this time whether the victim died from the gunshot wound or from injuries suffered in the crash.
