Man dies following multi-vehicle crash on SR-82 in Lee County
LEE COUNTY, FL – Florida Highway Patrol troopers responded to a multi-vehicle wreck early Wednesday in Lehigh Acres that claimed the life of a 24-year-old local man, according to NBC 2.
The fatal accident occurred on a span of State Route 82 at Bell Boulevard, prompting an emergency response shortly after 4:55 a.m.
Investigators say the man was driving southbound on Bell Boulevard when he reportedly failed to yield to a stop sign at the intersection. Moments later, the left side of his car was struck by the front-end of a westbound vehicle occupied by a 57-year-old man and a 43-year-old woman, both Cape Coral residents. The impact of that crash caused the Lehigh Acres man to be thrown from his car. He was then struck by a third car being driven westbound in the outside lanes by a 39-year-old Immokalee woman.
First responders pronounced the Lehigh Acres man deceased at the scene.
No further details have been disclosed, but an investigation remains ongoing.
