Man fatally struck by hit-and-run box truck driver in Fort Myers
FORT MYERS, FL – A 56-year-old man was killed when he was hit by a driver of a box truck on U.S. 41 South, who then fled the scene near Rosati’s Pizza Sunday.
NBC-2 said this fatal wreck occurred before 10 p.m. when the pedestrian – Daniel Masica – was trying to cross the highway. An employee of Rosati’s Pizza said he and other restaurant goers said they saw the collision happen, including him being dragged 50 feet.
Mascia shortly suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Florida Highway Patrol has not yet located the hit-and-run driver or released information on the suspect’s vehicle.
