Motorcyclist, 26, dies after Riverview crash involving school bus
HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, FL – A 26-year-old man from Sun City Center died Wednesday following a multi-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 301 in Riverview, reports Tampa Bay Times.
The accident occurred at the intersection with Duncan Road at about 4:00 p.m.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the man was operating a Suzuki motorcycle northbound on US-301. A 43-year-old woman from Brandon was driving a Hillsborough school bus and when she made a left turn from US-301 onto Duncan Road while on a flashing yellow turn signal. Moments later, the motorcyclist collided with the bus before striking a southbound Dodge pickup truck driven by a 55-year-old man from Riverview.
Officials said the rider succumbed to his injuries.
Neither of the other two drivers were reported hurt. While 12 students were aboard the school bus at the time, they were also not injured.
It’s unclear at this time whether the bus driver is expected to be charged or cited, but an investigation remains in progress.
