Motorcyclist dead after impaired driver causes U-turn crash in Tampa
TAMPA, FL – As an impaired van driver made a U-turn at the West Hillsborough Avenue and Sawyer Road junction, he collided with a motorcyclist, who later died Sunday.
FOX 13 News said the collision happened before 8:45 p.m. when the van driver made a U-turn at a green light and entered the path of the motorcyclist, who sideswiped the van.
The van driver – who was later identified as Ulises J Camargo Vergara, 62 – was unharmed and later arrested for driving over the legal Blood Alcohol Content – 0.08. Vergara had a content of 0.153.
The motorcyclist, a 33-year-old man, was taken to a hospital, where he later died.
