Multi-auto wreck with rollover injures 4, kills 1 in Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, FL – A multi-vehicle collision that ended in a Lexus overturning several times claimed the life of a 15-year-old teenager and injured four people Friday.
News4Jax said the events unfolded around 10 p.m. on westbound J. Turner Butler Boulevard when the driver of a Lexus GS had collided with a Dodge Charger, which then crashed into a Genesis GV70. The impact had caused the Lexus to overturn and eject one occupant.
Florida Highway Patrol confirmed that the 15-year-old teenager who perished at the scene was a boy from Jacksonville. Two other Lexus passengers, a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl, were seriously injured.
In addition, the Lexus driver, a 16-year-old boy, was also seriously injured, while the Dodge Charger driver, a 27-year-old Middleburg man, and the Genesis driver, a 51-year-old Jacksonville woman, sustained minor wounds.
Due to the nature of this crash, the Florida Highway Patrol had to shut down westbound JTB for several hours before reopening the area.
