Multi-vehicle wreck in Miami claims man’s life
MIAMI, FL – One man lost his life following a multi-vehicle wreck on the 1200 block of NE 79th Street near the Pelican Harbor Marina before 9:30 p.m. Monday.
A driver of a Lamborghini Urus –24-year-old Alejandro F. Hall, of Alpharetta, Georgia – was traveling west on NE 79th Street and pursued an evasive maneuver to avoid hitting the back of a Hyundai Elantra, according to NBC Miami. Hall’s attempt was unsuccessful, and he struck the Elantra, leading both vehicles to rotate and land on top of a bridge. The force of this collision caused the Elantra’s door and seat belt to come off.
The Elantra driver hit a curb and a light pole, and the motorist – an unidentified man – was thrown from the vehicle. He was rushed to a hospital, where he later died. The passenger with him sustained minor injuries and was also sent to a hospital for treatment.
Hall’s vehicle also rolled on its side and struck a Ford Escape and a Ford F-250 pickup truck. Both appeared to have been unharmed.
Police said Hall was going more than 100 mph and was suspected of impairment, as officials found two bottles of alcohol inside his vehicle. Blood samples were conducted on Hall. Depending on the results, he could also face DUI manslaughter charges.
He also attempted to leave the scene of the crash but was detained.
Hall had a suspended Georgia’s driver’s license due to a DUI charge and was only permitted to “drive to and from work, school, and the doctor’s office under a DUI permit restriction in place until May 23, 2024.” He has been booked into jail and is charged with “vehicular homicide in a reckless manner, and causing death while driving without a license or with a suspended license.”
