OCSO deputy involved in Kissimmee collision that claims man’s life
ORANGE COUNTY, FL – A 37-year-old man from St. Cloud has died following a two-vehicle wreck Thursday evening, January 2, in Kissimmee that involved an Orange County sheriff’s deputy, reports FOX 35 Orlando.
The fatal crash took place on the northbound lanes of Florida’s Turnpike, near mile marker 250, at about 7:00 p.m.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers say the deputy was driving a sheriff’s office vehicle–an F-150–northbound on the Turnpike when, according to the deputy, the vehicle experienced a “mechanical issue.” At one point, the deputy lost control of the vehicle, which became disabled and entered the path of the victim’s Subaru, causing a crash.
While the deputy was taken to Osceola Regional Hospital with only minor injuries, the driver of the Subaru was rushed to the hospital with critical injuries and was later pronounced deceased.
No charges have been reported and no further information has been shared at this time.
