Officer arrested for DUI, rear-ending other patrol car in Miami
MIAMI, FL – An on-duty Miami-Dade Police officer was arrested and charged with DUI after he rear-ended a marked patrol car Tuesday, NBC Miami said.
This collision took place before 12:45 p.m. on westbound Southwest 72nd Street. After the officer — 43-year-old Victor Montalvo — struck the back of the other police car, he allegedly took out his gun, aiming it at the other officer.
The second officer, who was there helping a traffic marking crew, took out his gun and ordered Montalvo to drop his gun.
Montalvo surrendered and admitted he “drank too much,” also showcasing signs of intoxication — watery eyes and slurred speech. He refused to take a sobriety test.
Both officers suffered non-life-threatening wounds. It is unclear if they were taken to a hospital.
