Officer seriously hurt in crash with pickup truck in Tampa

TAMPA, FL – A Tampa Police officer was hospitalized for serious, non-life-threatening injuries after getting hit by a black F-150 Ford pickup truck Saturday.

ABC Action News said the officer was responding to a call at Busch Boulevard that involved a person sleeping on the railroad tracks. The driver of the black Ford had struck the officer after dealing with the initial matter. The force of the collision led him to being dragged 75 feet as he held onto his vehicle.

The Ford driver remained at the scene, and it is unclear if they will be charged.
