One dead after car-pedestrian crash in Chimney Lakes

JACKSONVILLE, FL – A pedestrian was left dead after getting hit by a car around 4 a.m. Saturday. 

The collision occurred on Staples Mill Drive near Irongate Drive, according to News 4 Jax. 

The driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators. 

Officials said the pedestrian was wearing dark clothing and was not walking in a well-light area, which could have been why the driver did not see him. 

The pedestrian gave in to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.
