One hospitalized after hit-and-run crash; driver arrested
NORTH FORT MYERS, FL – A bicyclist was seriously injured after getting struck by a pickup truck driver Thursday.
The collision occurred on eastbound Bayshore Road before Slater Road, NBC-2 reported.
Officials said the pickup truck driver made a left turn into the Walgreens parking lot and collided with the cyclist.
The driver checked on the man but did not render aid and fled the scene.
The cyclist was taken to a hospital for his injuries, where his condition is unknown.
The pickup truck driver, 60-year-old David Konley, was later located and arrested and charged with driving with a suspended license, probation violation, obstruction, and leaving the scene of a crash that resulted in an injury.
