Overtake attempt by motorcyclist leads to fatal Winter Haven crash
WINTER HAVEN, FL – A motorcyclist, a 27-year-old man, passed away when he tried to overtake a Ford trying to turn left and struck the car Sunday.
WTSP said this collision happened around 10:30 a.m. near the junction of Country Club Road and Crump Road, which is south of The Country Club of Winter Haven. After the vehicles collided (when the motorcyclist tried to cross a double yellow line), the biker was thrown from his motorcycle, and he perished at the collision site despite wearing a helmet.
The Polk County Sheriff’s Office launched an investigation and has not released other details at this time.
