Pickup truck driver fatally hits male runner in Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, FL – A man in his 70s succumbed to fatal injuries after he was struck by a pickup truck in the Arlingwood neighborhood around 6 p.m. Sunday.

This collision happened in the 7000 block of Merrill Road, according to News 4 Jax. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office said the man was running south while the pickup truck driver was traveling east.

The unidentified man was declared dead at the scene. Officials closed the eastbound lanes on Merrill Road to accommodate the scene clearance and investigation process. They have not listed any pending charges or citations at this time.
