Plane crash in St. Augustine claims 2 lives
ST. AUGUSTINE, FL – Two plane passengers succumbed to fatal wounds after their pilot lost control of the plane, causing the aircraft to crash near Torres Trace Monday.
The plane which had come from Northeast Florida Regional Airport, started descending around noon, according to News 4 Jax.
Officials have not released the names of the deceased victims.
While the cause of the collision is under investigation, authorities suspect that the baggage door did not have the capability of closing due to a loose vertical hinge. Investigators say the loose hinge could have hit the plane’s rudder, leading the pilot to lose control of the plane.
