Poles crash into semi-truck on I-275 in Tampa
TAMPA, FL – A driver slammed on brakes, causing two utility poles, both weighing 5,400 pounds, to come crashing directly into a semi-truck.
The collision occurred on I-275 Friday, Click Orlando reported. According to an eyewitness, the driver was initially parked on the outside shoulder, facing southbound. The driver then proceeded to enter interstate traffic, cutting off one person.
Then the driver slammed on his brakes, causing the poles he carried to cause significant damage to the semi-truck, which was in close contact.
Officials described the driver responsible for the crash as a driver of a “phantom vehicle,” in term intended to convey a vehicle liable for causing a collision without direct contact with another automobile.
The driver of the semi-truck remained at the scene.
