Pursuit ends in box truck rollover wreck, arrest in Miami-Dade Co.
MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, FL – A 35-year-old man had allegedly stolen a black GMC Denali pickup truck, leading to a pursuit that led to a box-truck wreck and his arrest last Thursday.
NBC Miami said the events unfolded when police were trying to stop the man, Joseph Samuel Gianino, as they received a tip that he stole the pickup truck in Broward County.
They said Gianino first went onto I-95 South and, then the Palmetto Expressway, and then exited onto Northwest 7th Avenue.
Gianino first collided with three other cars before traveling the wrong way and striking the box truck, which caused it to overturn.
Eventually, Gianino lost control of the stolen truck and came to rest on a grassy shoulder along the SR 91 and Northwest 7th Avenue connector.
Officers had Gianino cornered after the crash ended and arrested him.
Authorities said Gianino faces several charges, which include “aggravated fleeing and eluding causing injury, grand theft of a motor vehicle, leaving the scene of a crash, and driving with a suspended license.”
