Pursuit leads to fatal crash at St. Petersburg intersection
PINELLAS COUNTY, FL – A 30-year-old man from Seminole died Monday morning after a police pursuit led to a collision on 16th Street South in St. Petersburg, reports FOX 13 News.
The fatal crash was reported at the intersection with 7th Avenue North, not long after the man was seen speeding and traveling recklessly in a 2023 Dodge Charger in the area of Dr. Martin Luther King Street N and 7th Avenue S.
Florida Highway Patrol officials said deputies with the Pinellas County Sheriff’s Office began following the driver when he failed to stop for a traffic stop, which was initiated because of a window tint violation.
While FHP deputies and the PCSO deployed spike strips in an effort to stop the speeding suspect, he continued to flee until becoming involved in a crash at the above intersection.
The Seminole man was pronounced deceased following the wreck.
At this time, no further details have been made available.
