Semi driver unharmed as truck overturns in Bonita Springs
BONITA SPRINGS, FL – A semi-truck driver managed to escape injuries after their truck, filled with cardboard bales, rolled over on Old Highway 41 during heavy rain Tuesday.
The NBC-2 news team said the driver was on their way to a recycling center (south of Bonita Beach Road) when, for reasons unclear, they lost control of the truck, causing it to overturn and land on its side.
As a result, the 40 to 50 cardboard bales flew off the truck once it overturned, blocking a majority of the intersection.
Crews shut down the intersection for approximately three hours so that the cardboard bales could be removed from the site and so first responders could stabilize the truck and remove it from the site.
Officials have not revealed additional details, including whether the rainy weather played a role in this solo collision. Should new information become publicly available, then our news writers will add updates.
