Semi fails to slow down, causing fatal chain-reaction crash
FORT MYERS, FL – A driver of a semi-truck failed to slow down, leading to a chain-reaction crash on I-75 that claimed the life of a 28-year-old man Tuesday.
This crash happened before 6:45 p.m. on the interstate’s northbound lanes north of Luckett Road, according to NBC-2.
Troopers indicated in a preliminary report that traffic was coming to a halt. As expected, the driver of a tractor-trailer and the 28-year-old man operating a Chevy Malibu stopped. However, a motorist of another semi-truck declined to slow down, leading them to rear-end the 28-year-old man and then the man to hit another big rig.
Authorities said the 28-year-old, a North Fort Myers resident, had died from his injuries at the scene.
At this time, there have been no mentions of pending charges or citations.
Updates will be provided when they become available.
