Sideswipe brings on Pt. Verda Beach pole crash that kills van driver
POINT VERDA BEACH, FL – A pickup truck driver sideswiped a van, leading the van driver, a 55-year-old man, to then collide with a power pole, resulting in his death Thursday.
Action News Jax said this collision happened at Solana Road and A1A North. The sideswipe was a result of the pickup truck driver merging into the lane that the van driver was traveling in.
After the van driver (who did not wear a seatbelt) struck the utility pole, he succumbed to fatal wounds at the scene. Florida Highway Patrol identified the man as a Neptune Beach resident.
FHP has not confirmed if the pickup truck driver, a 60-year-old man, will be cited or charged for his involvement in this collision.
