Speed contributes to Lockhart crash that causes car to split in half
LOCKHART, FL – A 19-year-old man was speeding when he sideswiped a car driven by a woman making a left turn, leading her vehicle to split in half Wednesday.
This collision took place at the Mott Ave and N Orange Blossom Trail junction, WFTV 9 reported.
The front half of the woman’s car overturned, which trapped her inside, and the other portion landed over a fence 100 feet away.
Eyewitnesses said the 19-year-old man purposely drove at a higher rate when he noticed the woman trying to turn. He did remain at the scene. However, It is unclear if he will face citations or charges for speeding and reckless driving. He, along with the woman, was sent to a hospital for treatment.
An investigation was launched. No other details were reported at this time.
