SUV driver fatally hits teen scooter rider in Winter Haven
WINTER HAVEN, FL – A 15-year-old teenage boy riding an electric scooter died from his injuries after he was hit by an SUV in the Inwood neighborhood Tuesday.
This collision happened before 6 a.m. at the 34th Street Northwest and Avenue South Northwest intersection, according to WFLA.
The driver, an unidentified 26-year-old man from Winter Haven, was operating a 2016 Dodge Durango. He was driving on northbound 34th Street when he drove behind another vehicle and saw a dog. He swerved to avoid hitting the animal but then unintentionally struck the teenager, who went in a center lane on 34th.
