SUV driver killed after Naples head-on crash with dump truck
NAPLES, FL – A woman driving a garbage truck was seriously injured, and a man operating an SUV was left dead after he struck the dump truck head-on Thursday.
This collision happened before 6 a.m. on Immokalee Road, east of Rabbit Run Road, NBC-2 reported.
A preliminary report showed that the man, for reasons unclear, had left the northbound lanes and veered into the southbound lanes, leading to both vehicles crashing. The impact of this collision caused the SUV to roll over and become partially submerged in water and the truck motorist to collide with barbed wire.
The woman was rushed to a hospital and is recovering from her wounds.
Naples and Collier County emergency responders shut down the area for several hours to focus on their investigation and to clear the scene of the crash.
