Teen charged for crash that killed 2 women in Hialeah
HIALEAH, FL – Officials confirmed that the 15-year-old boy who stole his parents’ car and crashed into another vehicle that claimed the lives of two women last month will face numerous charges.
New details from CBS Miami indicated that the boy who will be charged as an adult and whose name won’t be mentioned in our article due to his status as a minor faces these charges: “two counts of vehicular homicide, one count of reckless driving causing serious bodily injury and three counts of driving while license is suspended, causing death or serious bodily injury.” He was on house arrest until Tuesday, May 14th, and is set to go from Miami-Dade Juvenile Detention Center to the Miami-Dade County Jail.
To recap, the collision happened in the vicinity of 483 SE and Fifth Street on April 23rd when the teenage driver ran a stop sign. New information shows that the teenager was going around 83 mph in a 30 mph zone when he crashed into another car (parked) that had three women inside. As a result, his vehicle drifted and crashed into a fence.
The two women who lost their lives were identified as 66-year-old Liliana Hernandez Molina, a backseat passenger, and 53-year-old Gloria Hernandez, a front-seat passenger. The other woman, who survived, was identified as 39-year-old Yarina Garcia Hernandez, was taken to Jackson Memorial Hospital’s Ryder Trauma Center for treatment of critical, life-threatening injuries.
