Teen hurt as alleged impaired driver slams into Fort Myers home
FORT MYERS, FL – A suspected intoxicated driver was driving the wrong way on SR-80, leading them to slam through a Fort Myers home and injuring a teenage boy Monday.
This collision happened after midnight at the corner of Superior Street and Edgewood Avenue, according to WINK News. Florida Highway Patrol said they tried to pull over the allegedly impaired motorist, operating a red RAM truck, but they refused, thus initiating the collision. The driver did end up crashing into the home, striking the teenage boy and fleeing the scene.
Troopers and the Fort Myers Police Department have not located the suspect, but they did confirm the hospital released the teenage boy.
The Fort Myers Police Department advises the public to come forward if they have any information on this crash.
