Trash truck hits I-95 overpass in Jacksonville, injuring woman
JACKSONVILLE, FL – A woman driving a car on the I-95 overpass sustained minor wounds when she was hit with debris that resulted after a trash truck struck the bridge Tuesday.
The truck’s hydraulic dump bed was raised higher than the allowed clearance for a vehicle, causing it to strike the bridge, News4Jax reported.
After arriving, authorities closed two right lanes on I-95 North and the Airport Road exit ramp to clear the scene.
The Florida Department of Transportation was also summoned to the scene to inspect the bridge’s structural integrity. While they did not clarify if the integrity was compromised, they did say closures would last for quite some time.
As for the truck driver, they were injured, although authorities did not confirm if they would face charges or citations.
