Trooper hurt in Weston rear-end crash caused by reckless driver
WESTON, FL – A driver of a black Porsche was said to have driven recklessly when he rear-ended a Florida Highway Patrol car, injuring the trooper in the process.
This collision happened on I-75 on Tuesday, January 2. CBS News said that after the driver struck the back of the cruiser, he tried to flee the scene on foot.
The motorist, Ricardo Jimenez, ran on foot but was shortly caught, thanks to the perimeter set up by multiple emergency crews.
Jimenez was sent to Cleveland Clinic for treatment of unspecified injuries. He has been booked into jail. While his specific charges were not mentioned, he has been arrested and charged with “domestic violence, false imprisonment, tampering with a witness, battery, stalking, and some traffic-related offenses.”
It is unclear if the trooper was sent to a hospital for treatment of his non-life-threatening wounds.
