Two Hurt By Reckless Driver In Lee County
Recently, a catastrophic accident in Lee County sent three people to the hospital. Two were listed in serious condition and one in critical condition. The two vehicle crash occurred around 10 am at the intersection of SR 80 and South Olga Drive.
The crash occurred when a 43-year-old driver attempted to make a left turn onto South Olga Drive when an oncoming vehicle had the right away. The driver of the second vehicle and at-fault driver were both sent to Lee Memorial Hospital in serious condition.
Unfortunately, the drivers were not the only victims in this case. A passenger in the at-fault driver’s vehicle was sent to Lee Memorial in critical condition. Our thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved in the accident and wish them all a speedy recovery.
Charges pending for at-fault driver
According to the Florida Highway Patrol, charges are pending for the at-fault driver attempting to make the illegal turn. Sadly, reckless drivers almost always put more than themselves at risk. So often, their passengers and other innocent victims incur the consequences of careless behavior, exacerbating an already dire situation.
As a law firm that regularly represents the legal interests of auto accident victims, The Pendas Law Firm implores all drivers to be safe on the highway and considerate of the safety of themselves and others.
Too many accidents are caused because someone was distracted, in a hurry, or otherwise careless on the road. There can be no benefit to texting while driving, speeding, or disobeying the law when compared to the safety risk it poses to everyone else on the road.
Fort Myers auto accident lawsuits
Florida’s no-fault car insurance laws hold the victim’s own auto insurance pays for the destruction of his or her property, medical bills, or other damages. However, in cases of serious accidents involving disability or disfigurement, victims may file lawsuits and insurance claims against the at-fault driver.
While the purpose of auto insurance is to compensate victims for their damages, powerful insurance companies often attempt to downplay the extent of necessary medical treatment or suffering. Car accident victims should strongly consider retaining an experienced and dedicated Fort Myers auto accident lawyer to help prosecute their claims and secure justice.
Depending on the circumstances of an auto accident, auto accident victims may be entitled to recover compensation for various types of damages. This may include things like:
- Property damage to their vehicle;
- Hospital bills;
- Medical treatment;
- Physical pain and suffering; and
- Mental anguish.
