U-turn attempt in Jacksonville leads to wreck that kills man
JACKSONVILLE, FL – A 43-year-old man, a Jacksonville local, died when he was struck by a pickup truck while allegedly attempting to make a U-turn on North Main Street Tuesday.
Florida Highway Patrol told First Coast News that the events unfolded before 7 p.m. while the 43-year-old man, driving a sedan, was approaching Sara Drive. FHP said that prior to this wreck, the sedan driver was involved in a hit-and-run. Once the sedan driver collided with a pickup truck, the motorist crashed into a raised concrete median.
The Jacksonville local perished at the scene, while the truck driver, a 68-year-old man, suffered minor wounds.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office shut down both north and southbound Main Street between Eastport Road and Baisden Road to accommodate the scene clearance process.
FHP suspects that the hit-and-run motorist was driving a white Nissan Altima and advises anyone with more information to contact troopers at the phone number listed in the source.
