UPDATE: 3 hurt, 2 lives claimed in fiery plane-car crash in Naples
NAPLES, FL – The Collier County Sheriff’s Office confirmed that two people died and three were left injured after a plane crashed into a car, causing both aircraft and vehicle to catch fire last Friday, Feb. 9.
The collision took place near I-75. Fox4Now said two people were co-piloting a Bombardier Challenger when the plane experienced engine failure, causing it to descend.
Shortly after the plane collided with the car, both pilots, identified as 50-year-old Edward Daniel Murphy from Oakland Park, Florida, and 65-year-old Ian Hofmann from Pompano Beach, Florida, succumbed to their injuries.
First responders rushed three passengers to an area hospital for unspecified wounds. Deputies have identified one occupant as 27-year-old Sydney Ann Bosmans, and the other two as Columbus, Ohio residents Audra Green, 23, and Aaron Baker, 35. At this time, officials have not provided an update on these passengers’ current conditions.
