Update: New York woman dies in ATV wreck, Miami-Dade Police say
MIAMI, FL – As of Thursday night, Miami-Dade Police confirmed that the woman who passed away in an ATV collision in the canal was from New York, WSVN revealed.
To recap, this crash happened when either the New York woman or passenger with her (also a woman from New York and her cousin) had operated an ATV and then lost control of the vehicle, leading them to crash into the canal, located in the vicinity of Southwest 112th Street and 157th Avenue.
A video sent to WSVN also revealed that a man, identified as Dennis Padilla, and his son noticed the two women, and sprung into action, bringing jackets and life vests to try and help the women alongside Miami Dade Fire Rescue crews and Miami Dade Police divers.
Padilla’s song, along with some divers, also jumped into the water as well. One woman was able to escape, while a diver eventually rescued the second woman.
The woman who passed away had taken her last breath at HCA Florida Kendall Hospital. At this time, authorities have not released her name or her age.
