Update: Police confirm arrest for deadly Dale Mabry Hwy wreck
TAMPA, FL – Tampa Police confirmed they arrested a 22-year-old man for speeding and causing a crash on Dale Mabry Highway that claimed a woman’s life Monday.
New details from Bay News 9 show that the 22-year-old man, identified as Andy Moya Robainia, was racing another driver when he crashed his 2011 BMW into a 2015 Nissan Versa.
Police said the two occupants of the Nissan — a male driver and a female passenger — were taken to a hospital.Officers confirmed that the Nissan passenger, identified as a white woman in her early 60s, died from her injuries at the hospital, while the driver, a white man in his early 70s, was set to receive medical treatment for his injuries.
Authorities charged Robaina (who was unharmed) with one “felony count of vehicular homicide and one misdemeanor count of unlawful racing on a highway.”
First responders shut down several lanes for the investigation period before reopening them all later.
