Van collides with semi in Davie, killing woman, injuring many

DAVIE, FL – A woman lost her life, and several individuals, which included a baby, sustained injuries when a white van collided with a semi-trailer Tuesday.

This collision happened around 2:30 p.m. on Florida’s Turnpike South near Griffin Road and involved nine people, according to NBC Miami. Florida Highway Patrol said the woman perished at the scene, and video footage from the NBC Miami news team shows a medical helicopter leaving the collision site to take one of the victims to Broward General Hospital. Three children were among the hospitalized occupants.

Patrol cars, ambulances, and fire trucks were blocking all southbound lanes, which were shut down temporarily.
