Van runs stop sign in Port Charlotte, fatally hitting motorcyclist
PORT CHARLOTTE, FL – First responders took a motorcyclist to a hospital where he died from his critical injuries after he was hit by a van driver who ran a stop sign Monday.
This collision happened before 2:30 p.m. when the van driver passed the stop sign on southbound Torrington Street and then struck the motorcyclist on westbound Veterans Boulevard, NBC-2 revealed.
As a result, the motorcyclist fell. Florida Highway Patrol only identified the victim as a 64-year-old man.
Troopers started an investigation and have not revealed if the van driver will be cited or charged for running a stop sign and for their involvement in this collision that resulted in a fatality.
