Vehicles fatally strike walker in Immokalee
IMMOKALEE, FL – A man crossing westbound New Market Road near Escambia Street lost his life when he was hit by two vehicles Friday, WINK News said.
The events unfolded when the pedestrian was first struck by a Ford van going westbound on New Market and then a second vehicle (unspecified) traveling on eastbound New Market. Florida Highway Patrol initially said the driver of the van, a 41-year-old man, had initially left the scene, but shortly returned. Officials impounded his vehicle, but did not reveal whether the man was met with citations or pending criminal charges.
The driver of the second vehicle, a 70-year-old man, remained at the scene.
FHP launched an investigation and has not stated additional information at this time.
