Woman, 21, killed when car rear-ends semi in Fort Myers
FORT MYERS, FL – A 21-year-old woman from Lehigh Acres passed away after her driver, a 28-year-old woman also from Lehigh Acres, rear-ended a semi-truck Friday.
NBC-2 said this collision occurred before 4 a.m. on the I-75 South ramp connecting with Alico Road. Florida Highway Patrol said (for reasons unclear) that the 28-year-old woman had drifted off the road and hit the semi-truck, which was parked on the shoulder.
Troopers declared the 21-year-old woman dead at the scene and said an ambulance took the 28-year-old woman to a hospital for minor wounds. The semi-truck driver was unharmed.
FHP started an investigation and has not shared additional information at this time.
