Woman, 26, loses life in Davenport head-on wreck
DAVENPORT, FL – A 26-year-old Lakeland woman, a passenger in a 2019 Chrysler Sebring, died after her driver collided head-on with a 2022 Toyota Corolla on US 17-92 Sunday.
This collision was reported around 10 p.m. adjacent to Sundown Drive, Click Orlando revealed. The Chrysler driver — a 26-year-old man from Lakeland — tried to pass a vehicle on the northbound lanes amid a no-pass zone when he struck the front of the Corolla after losing control while trying to go back to his lane.
The force of the collision sent the Corolla into the southbound shoulder and the Chrysler into the northbound shoulder.
The 26-year-old Lakeland woman was declared dead at the scene, while first responders took the 26-year-old Lakeland man, the Toyota Corolla driver, a 30-year-old man from Kissimmee, and two other men, a 26-year-old and 40-year-old (also both from Lakeland) to a hospital.
Florida Highway Patrol started an investigation and has not revealed other details at this time.
