Woman, 61, killed in multi-sedan wreck in Jacksonville
JACKSONVILLE, FL – A 61-year-old woman, driving a sedan, died after a multi-sedan collision that was brought on when she first rear-ended a sedan on I-295 Wednesday.
The 61-year-old woman struck the back of the sedan in front of her at 5:30 p.m., First Coast News reported. Then, the woman and another sedan driver behind her merged into the center lane simultaneously. As a result, a third sedan crashed into the 61-year-old woman’s car and went into the high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes.
There, in the HOV lanes, an SUV driver then hit the woman’s sedan, and a driver behind the SUV also struck the woman’s car.
Following this serious wreck, Florida Highway Patrol pronounced the woman dead at the scene and confirmed all the other drivers were unharmed.
No lane closures were reported, although, at the time of the reporting, crews said they were working on clearing the scene.
