Woman, 96, killed in Jacksonville crash with pole
JACKSONVILLE, FL – A driver of a four-door sedan crashed into a utility pole, taking the life of a 96-year-old woman and injuring a person in their 40s Friday.
At around 3 a.m., the driver, for reasons unclear, swerved off the southbound lanes of Old St. Augustine Road before crashing, First Coast News revealed.
The backseat passenger, whose name was not released, was rushed to the hospital for serious injuries. The front seat passenger – the 96-year-old woman – was identified as Evelyn Galvin. Gavin suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. \
The impact of the collision resulted in a power outage to the traffic signal. Power should be restored within a few weeks.
The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office is investigating the details of this collision.
