Woman in 70s loses life in solo rollover wreck in East Tampa
EAST TAMPA, FL – A black woman in her 70s, a passenger inside a convertible, passed away after the car she was in overturned in East Tampa Sunday.
This collision happened before noon, when the driver hit a utility pole at North 11th Street and East Hillsborough Avenue prior to the car overturning, ABC Action News said. After arriving, Tampa Police said the woman succumbed to fatal injuries at the scene.
An ambulance took the driver, a black man in his 70s, to a hospital where he is listed in stable condition.
Police have not publicly identified the man and woman. Officers who started an investigation have not released many details but did confirm that impairment did not play a role in this crash.
Officers shut down both directions of East Hillsborough Avenue before later reopening all lanes.
