Wrong-way crash on I-75 in east Tampa kills 1, injures 1
TAMPA, FL – One man was killed and another was rushed to the hospital following a wrong-way crash on I-75 last Friday morning.
According to WFLA, the incident occurred when a vehicle entered the I-75 exit ramp at SR-574, traveling in the wrong direction, and collided head-on with a van.
The wrong-way driver, identified as a 36-year-old Tampa man, had to be extricated from his burning vehicle. He was transported to a nearby hospital, where he died a short time later.
The other driver involved in the collision, a 49-year-old man from Riverview, was also hospitalized for non-life-threatening injuries.
